Whose fault is that? Frankly, mine!
Marketers, or top management types who want to think they're marketers, too often inject and infect their marketing efforts with too much of their own egos. BUT listen guys, the ads, brochures, events, and blogs don't exist for our sake but for the customers... If they're not turned on and tuned in to the message it's because we've failed to make it interesting or relevant to them. And, we should always check in with the customer audience to get the green light for a commitment to hear/read future messages - the little buy-in's that lead to the big buy-in.
Questions I'm asking myself right now:
- is KKIV for me to hash out my thoughts and problems OR is it meant for an external audience?
- who do I want to interest with the KKIV blog?
- if I'm sending a message to an outside audience, then how can I make it more relevant, interesting and easy to interact with me on this journey?
Are these the right questions? How would you answer them?

Mr. Ken...you've hit the nail right on the coffin! Those are indeed the right and 'relevant' questions. I have always found blogs to be quite fascinating. They all start off as a means for the author to share his views, feelings, ideas and so on and ultimately attract an audience who are either interested in what the author is saying or finds that the author is basically describing the reader’s views and opinions in general. Think of it this way, it’s no different than relationships. Two individuals go out with each other only because they find at least one thing that they have in common between themselves. Even though there are the exceptional couples who claim that they are the complete opposites when it comes to their characters and so on, they still do have something in common as they both liked individuals who were unlike each other. It’s the same with blogs. I don’t know about the others but the post, ‘KIV?’ certainly grabbed my attention. Give it some time, eventually people will start relating the blog to their own lives and will start tuning in more often to see how things are turning out to be, especially in the context of real life. I would even go to the extent of saying that the contents of your blog are quite adventurous. The more players that enter the game, the more they’ll want to find out how the others are doing in the playing field. Again, give it some time. Your blog’s awesome! Keep up the good work!
i read it in my spare time... i just haven't had much of that recently. but i have definitely been there as fare as "comments (0)" goes. actually, i think my last few posts are there...
questions:
1) it depends. you should have some way to express your struggles. some people are more open about these things than others. i have a journal that i do that, so i write my blog with others in mind. the main difference, is if you write for others, you have to try to humor them. you have to explain things that others may not understand. you might try to persuade. in a personal one... write what you want. it doesn't have to make sence. you just have to remember that people might read it.
2)/ 3)this follows the first question. if you're writing it for others, make sure they can make sence of it. make it relevent to them. explain what you mean with applications to their lives. people like personal things. er, people like me like personal things.
you have an amazing opportunity, living where you do. these are questions you have to answer for yourself, but if i were you, i would write talking about the cultures you have and are experiencing. compare it to other experiences. this could be largely business, or largely social. but at the same time, you don't want to be doing this soley for others. if you do, it just becomes a chore.
I Ken,
I really like your blog and wish I had more time to read it. I find blogs difficult because the first page is usually the tip of an iceberg to whose depth I don't have the time to dive. So I only see the first page. I there better and faster way to guide viewers to material potentially interesting to time instead of having them confronted with the "latest" entry which may or may not be?
